This edition brings together four brands from Dasumen’s unboxing series in China. The selection moves from snacks and drinks to prepared foods, with a look at product formats, textures and questions to take into a sourcing conversation.
Rusto’s Tempeh — Tempeh crisps
Rusto’s Tempeh offers ready-to-eat tempeh crisps imported from Indonesia. This feature focuses on the Original flavour. The supplied ingredient information lists fermented soybeans (at least 48%), tapioca flour, vegetable oil, salt, white pepper and garlic.
The sample has a crisp texture. For someone unfamiliar with cooking tempeh, this is a straightforward way to encounter the ingredient in a familiar snack format.

Buyer’s note
The ingredient description here applies to the Original flavour. Other flavours have different formulations. Buyers should check the current pack’s ingredient list and nutrition panel, together with storage instructions and shelf life, for the exact product they are considering.
Dongjiao Coconut Grove — Coconut yogurt and juice
Dongjiao Coconut Grove’s range brings together coconut water, coconut yogurt and a coconut-water-based fruit-and-vegetable drink. Coconut connects the three formats, from a base drink to a thick, spoonable fermented product.
The supplied labels list coconut water as the sole ingredient in the coconut water product. The yogurt combines coconut flesh and coconut water with xylitol and four types of lactic acid bacteria. The fruit-and-vegetable drink combines coconut water with kale, bitter melon, cantaloupe and endive, alongside sugar, xylitol and lactic acid bacteria.
The formats also have different cold-chain requirements. The supplied yogurt label specifies refrigerated storage and transport at 2–10°C, with a stated shelf life of 45 days. The coconut water and fruit-and-vegetable drink labels specify frozen storage and transport at −15°C or below, with a stated shelf life of 12 months.
When we tasted the yogurt, we found it rich in coconut flavour, with a thick, fine and smooth texture and no fishy note.

Buyer’s note
Match the product to your cold-chain setup and check the remaining shelf life on arrival. For vegan sourcing requirements, review the supplier’s shared-line controls and supporting documentation. Confirm the handling instructions and usable period after thawing or opening for the exact product you intend to order.
wishwill — Lion’s mane “crab” sauce
wishwill uses a shredding process to separate lion’s mane mushroom into fibres for a crab-inspired sauce. The strands are central to its texture, while carrot and other plant ingredients create a crab-roe-like texture and appearance.
This is a prepared sauce to consider in the context of a finished dish. Its usefulness to a buyer will depend on how it tastes, handles and performs in the intended recipe.

Buyer’s note
The supplied product information specifies frozen transport. For the current product, confirm the ingredient list and nutrition panel, required storage and transport temperatures, remaining shelf life on arrival, and instructions after thawing or opening with the supplier.
Yuyan — A mushroom-based take on Buddha Jumps Over the Wall
Yuyan presents a plant-based interpretation of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, drawing on the Fujian banquet dish. The product combines mushrooms with konjac shaped to resemble ingredients such as abalone and sea cucumber. The supplied information describes a gentle, slow-simmering process, followed by high-temperature sterilisation and vacuum canning.
The sample comes in an individual bowl-format pack, bringing a dish associated with a shared banquet into a smaller prepared-food format. Whole pieces of mushroom and konjac remain central to the presentation. We ate the sample straight from the bowl after opening. In our experience, the portable bowl makes it a practical option for outings and business travel.

Buyer’s note
The pack shown here is an individual portion. Buyers should check the label’s ready-to-eat directions, storage conditions and instructions after opening before assessing it for travel or convenience ranges. Buyers looking for a foodservice format should also ask what pack sizes are currently available.
